Lauren is a mid 30s North Carolina native, now living in DC area with her family.

Lauren is a budget world traveler. She got on her first airplane at age 20 - leaving the US for the first time to go to China, Laos and Thailand for 6 weeks. Two years later, she solo travelled through Guatemala and Belize for 6 weeks. In her mid 30s, she had the opportunity to live and work in NZ for 3 months, which was a lifelong dream fulfilled. She has also travelled to: England, Iceland, France, Italy + Vatican, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Morocco, New Zealand, Greece, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Denmark, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, and Germany. She has visited 32 US States.

In 2020, she built a Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) teardrop camper with her husband, J, to travel locally during the pandemic.

Lauren is a lover of style and fashion. She is a constant work in progress of being a more conscious consumer - marrying a love of fashion, with a desire to be a good steward of this planet and the people on this planet. The majority of her closet is thrifted, and she uses A Dashing Escape to share thrifted pieces, thrifted outfits, sustainable brands, thrift tips, styling inspiration. She continues to evolve in her style - honing in on authentic self, while also learning more about clothing and production, buying less items, focusing on more quality pieces. Being gentle with herself in this process, knowing that when we know better, we do better.
